About the Disease
Coeliac disease affects 1 in 100 people in Britain and is caused by a sensitivity to Gluten which is found in everyday foods like wheat, barley and rye. Gluten is made up of parts, one of which is gliadin which is the damaging part of gluten. If someone with coeliac disease eats this their antibodies form against it and mistake the gluten as harmful and reacts against it as thou it were a germ or infection.

As a result of this food is poorly absorbed and signs and symptoms occur. Some symptoms are typically abdominal pains coming and going, wind, bloating, diarrhoea, aneamia, tiredness and weakness, poor concentration, sensitivity to clothing worn around the waist and stomach, headaches and fuzzy feelings in the morning and just a feeling of unwell.

I have also found that I have skin outbreaks and eczema flare ups when I have eaten something I am sensitive to which is also linked to the coeliacs disease.

Just a little won't hurt' but it will, even a breadcrumb of wheat or gluten can cause severe symptoms and there are reported links be it rare to an increased risk of tumours of the gut in later life if a strict gluten free diet is not followed.
